QUINCY, IL (Sept 13, 2012) – The 2012 Quincy Raceways Track Champions in all six divisions will be crown this coming Sunday evening September 16 during the TnT Action Sports Season Championship races. Several of the track titles are still up for grabs as the point’s racing season comes to a close.
Jason Perry is in the drivers seat for the UMP Super Late Model Track Championship with a 36 point lead over defending Track Champion Justin Reed with Dustin Griffin in third 43 points behind Perry. Perry currently also leads the National Rookie of the Year standings for the UMP Late Model division. Forty Five different drivers have competed in the UMP Super Late Models this season at Quincy Raceways excluding the SummerNationals event in July.
Steven DeLonjay is well on his way to his second straight Quincy Raceways Miller Lite UMP Modified Track Champion title by holding an insurmountable 99 point margin over Jared Schlipman and 108 point lead over Dave Wietholder going into the final point’s racing event.
Terry Houston holds a fifteen point margin over Jerry Jansen in the IMCA Stock Car division and a twenty one point lead over Abe Huls who has been a terror of the class by winning ten features in fifteen events this year. Huls missed a race night when he took a vacation earlier in the summer.Houstoncan not relax and have trouble during the Season Championship race night as Jansen could make up the difference with some good luck on his part.
Tony Dunker is looking for his third Track Championship title in the Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA SportMod class, Dunker has two previous Track Championships in the now defunct B-Modifieds. Dunker holds a thirty five point lead over Bobby Anders in second and forty six point margin over 2011 SportMod Track Champ Joe Bliven.
Jake Powers and Brandon Symmonds are battling it out for the Quincy Hobby Stock Track Championship as Powers holds a very slim two point margin over Symmonds going into the Season Championship night. Tanner Klingele sits in the third spot fifteen markers behind Powers and has a mathematical chance to sneak in to grab the Track Championship laurels. The heat races will also become a factor in the Hobby Stock division as heat race points are awarded on a three two one basis.
A season long battle for the first IMCA Sport Compact Track Championship has been raging between Seith Woodruff and Kimberly Abbott with Woodruff holding a very slim three point margin over Abbott going into the Season Championship race night. Abbott is seeking her first Track Championship title and would become the first female Track Champ in the history of Quincy Raceways if she can pass Woodruff in the points chase. Austen Becerra, who has been on a tear in the Sport Compacts as of late sits in third forty markers behind Woodruff. Becerra has captured six points feature wins in a row.
The 2012 Race Season will not be over with the Season Championship night at Quincy Raceways as there is still racing scheduled for Sunday September 23 and watch for more information about a special event for Sunday September 30.
The Pit Gates open at 2:30, Grandstands at 4:00, Driver’s Meeting at 4:30, Driver’s Registration ends at 4:30, Hot Laps at 4:45 and Racing at 5:30 for the Season Championship Night on Sunday September 16 at Quincy Raceways.
