Two Davenport Speedway racers win national crowns
DAVENPORT, Ia. (October 3, 2016) – The Davenport Speedway will be well represented when the International Motor Contest Association holds its national banquet on November 26th, in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Two of Davenport Speedway track champions for 2016 were also crowned IMCA National Champions for this season. A total of five Davenport Speedway weekly competitors recorded top ten finishes in the IMCA national point standings.
IMCA Late Model driver Rob Toland of Davenport, captured his third track title and third national title. His previous national crowns were in 2001 and 2005. Rob also won the track championship at Quad City Speedway in East Moline, this year.
Fellow late model racers Matt Ryan of Davenport, and Andy Nezworski of Buffalo, also finished in the top ten in national points.
For Tony Olson of Cedar Rapids, 2016 marks his first IMCA Northern SportMod National Championship. Tony won SportMod titles at Davenport in 2015 and 2016. Olson also captured track championships at Benton County Speedway and Independence Motor Speedway this season.
Mitch Morris of McCausland, Iowa is the IMCA Modified track champion for the Davenport Speedway in 2016. Mitch finished tenth in Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified national points. The IMCA Modified division is the largest sanctioned class of stock car racing in the United States.
Jeremy Gustaf of East Moline, IL captured the Davenport Street Stock track championship this season.
