WINSTON, MO (June 8, 2013) – Even Mother Nature could not hold back the exciting racing atmosphere at I-35 Speedway as the Grand National class kicked off the evening’s festivities. Finding his way for the sixth time this year was the #75 of Bud Wilson. The battle for second and third was between the two Johnson brothers as older brother Austin #98 would wind up second and younger brother and one time race leader Houston #97 would come home third. Don Marrs #9 finished fourth and Marty Powell #9p rounded out the top five.

Returning to the track for another go around was the Midwest Lightning Sprints with Mark K. Billings #51 earning the night’s top spot.  Ken Billings #85 would race his way to second and Tom Brown #b20 close behind in third.  Rookie contender Willie Wilkinson #09w had an impressive fourth place run with Greg Black #53 fifth.

After being in contention every race in the IMCA Stock Car class this young 2013 season “Big” Jeff Dixon #88 sealed the deal this week, leading every lap on his way to picking up the victory.  Dixon was challenged almost every turn of every lap by Thomas Roberts #65x and Dean Wray #77.  Roberts would place a solid second and Wray would have to settle for third after recovering from hard contact with the front stretch wall.  Fourth place would go to Jake Cameron #86c with Todd Fisher #44 charging from back to front to place fifth.

Action was fast and furious in the IMCA Sport Mod class as  point leader “Mr. Highside” Jeremy Pittsenbarger #32p lived up to his nickname and used that high side.  Pittsenbarger would charge his way from a tenth starting spot passing all challengers on his way to victory number two this season.  Second place witnessed a strong battle between Doug Keller #7, who would finish second, and Nick “The Kid” Roberts #23jr recovering from an early race altercation to place third.  “Marine Tough” Clint Baker #17x flexed his muscle with a strong fourth place finish and Randy Ainsworth #57 earned fifth.

Returning to form in the IMCA Hobby Stock class point leader Kenny Champ #3 held off a very fast Lee Farmer #17f.  Champ would claim the top spot with Farmer a solid second.  “Mr. Consistency” Mich Ross #34 finished third while rookies Cody Doolittle #5, finished fourth, and Bryce Whitney #x9, placed fifth.

IMCA Modifieds witnessed the big guns attempt to tackle our 3/8 mile of dirt and would not disappoint.  After recovering from a hot lap action roll over “Mr. Excitement” Jim Cameron #96c took the early lead, only to see it disappear as Mike VanGenderen #57v and Corey Wray #69n charged to the front.  VanGenderen would lead late in the race yet come up short, as Corey Wray would work the inside groove to his advantage on his way to victory.  VanGenderen would place second and Cameron fading to third.  Buz Kaster #54 drove a hard race to place fourth and Justin Asher #74 would round out the top five.

Thanks to all of our loyal race fans as we completed another exciting night of “Dirt Trackin at its best”.  Join us next week for more great racing action along with “Pin the ribbon on the racecar” entertainment at intermission.
