Wray, Hanes, and Estes Win on Ferrellgas Night at I-35 Speedway!!!

 

WINSTON, MO (May 28, 2016) – After a beautiful opening ceremony honoring our fallen heroes on Memorial Weekend we witnessed a great night of racing unfold!

Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racers would roar to the track with heat racer winner Andy Wiles #53 pacing the field leading the early laps. Chris Heitman #39 would rise as a contender but could not muster enough to catch the leader. Wiles would cruise to McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle claiming the win holding Heitman to second. John Steenstry #22 would place a solid third with Dennis Fair #7 moving through the pack to finish fourth with Andrew Buffington #3 rounding out the nights top five.

E-Modified would try and tame the fast, smooth speedway next and would not disappoint those in attendance. Heat race winner Matt Dorssom #3d would thread the needle coming of turn number two taking the early lead. As the race progressed Casey Burnett #23B would emerge from the pack and challenge Dorssom using the high line to perfection. Dorssom would change lines and hold off #23b to claim his fifth win of 2016 with other heat race winner Burnett a close second place. Randy Smith Jr #20x would race with the leaders the entire feature to finish third with Kyle Henning #1 placing a solid fourth. Big mover of the feature was Daniel Harris #07 who would recover from an early race mishap to end the night fifth. Other heat race winner was #12ga of Jason Nelson.

Pure Stock would see lots of on track action as the familiar face of Carson Masoner #20x would pick up win number five on the 2016 racing season at I-35 Speedway. Masoner would take the lead away from a very fast #28 of heat race winner Tobin Bartlett who would finish second holding Anthony Persell #87 to place third in the feature. Austin McKinzie #09 would recover from early race contact to place fourth with Nathan Dawson #03d placing a solid top five.

Chargers would take to the track with a first time winner in the division as Jeff Dixon #54d would see the checkers first winning the feature event. Houston Johnson #97 would place second with heat race winner Buz Kaster #54 ending the night third. Fourth would belong to Travis Walker #71 with fifth going to Marty Powell #9p.

Midwest Lightning Sprints would see heat race winner Tom Brown #B20 take the early lead and appear to be the car to beat leading all but the last half straight away. Jason Billups #2 would see Brown slip coming off turn number four opening the door on the last turn. Billups would take the lead and the win moving Brown to finish second on this night. This would be Billups first feature win at I-35 Speedway in the Midwest Lightning Sprint Division. Tyler Miller #25m would race to third with the #12 of Jon Lane fourth and Paden Moreland #19 fifth.

USRA B-Modifieds would put on the show of the night as the two heat race winners would race wheel to wheel the entire feature. Danan Knott #18k would charge to the front and outpace the field holding off challenges until the very end. Last turn of the last lap Nic Hanes #17x would make a low side move and beat Knott to the checkers and claim win number two in this 2016 racing season. Knott would finish second and congratulate Hanes in victory circle as point leader Steve Starmer #11s would finish the night third. Randy Ainsworth #57 would finish fourth with Blake Pierce #16 rounding out the nights top five.

USRA Stock Cars would again thrill the crowd with side by side racing from start to checkers. Heat race winner Jason Estes #997 would race wheel to wheel and door to door with Dean Wray #77 for the first five circuits until Wray would slip in turn four bringing out the caution. Estes would continue to lead holding off the hard charge of Jon Boller Jr #20x to win his fourth feature of 2016. Boller would work the low side to perfection coming up a little short and finishing second on the night. Third place would belong to Blake Peeler #292 with Billie Hoover #21h claiming the fourth spot. Other heat race winner Dean Wray would fade late to place fifth.

The racing would stay hot and heavy as the high flying, fire breathing, alcohol drinking, USRA Modifieds took to the track. Heat race winner Derrick Hicks #78 would jump to the lead on the high side and appear to be on his way until Dennis Elliott #29 with that familiar low line would take the point. Elliott would swap the lead with other heat race winner Zach Sanders #69 as you could throw a blanket over the top five competitors. As the laps wound down, Cory Wray #69N would emerge from the pack and take the lead with two to go and claim the win. Second would belong to Dennis Elliott with Hicks a very close third. Sanders would end the night fourth with Steven Glenn #26s ending the night’s racing action fifth.
